SHEER CURTAINS
MEASURING GUIDE
Curtains add the final touch to your decoration. Whether they are fancy, embroidered or plain, discover our collection of made-to-measure curtains and choose the one that best suits your interior.
Their transparency is also essential, in fact the curtains must let the light through while preserving your privacy.
Between dimensions, materials and finishes (rod pocket, curtain tape or eyelets), find below all our advice to help you take the measurements of your curtains.
#1 - FINISHES
Before determining the dimensions of your curtain, we invite you to discover below the 3 top finishes that we propose to make our curtains.
-
- Rod Pocket finish: 3 cm hem made at the top of the curtain into which the rod is slid in order to hang the curtain in the window. The rod pocket has a 2 cm high head (which is included in the finished height of your curtain).
We can adapt the width of the rod pocket to the diameter of your rod. Please let us know when you order.
-
- Pencil pleat finish: 75 mm wide gathering tape that is added to the top of the curtain to obtain regular and uniform gathers across the entire width. This finish allows the width of the curtain to be adjusted according to the desired gathering effect.
Hooks should then be added so that the curtain can be hung from your track or ring rod.
-
- Eyelet finish: the most contemporary finish that offers a clean and straight fall. The eyelets are placed on a reinforcing strip which ensures that the head stays in place. They are evenly distributed across the width of the curtain. As the eyelets have an inner diameter of 4 cm (and an outer diameter of 6 cm), your rod should not exceed 3 cm in diameter.
Allow a space of at least 3 cm between the top of the pole and the ceiling for the head of the curtain.
#2 - DIMENSIONS
Define the drop of your curtain :
-
- Rod pocket finish: measure the height of the curtain from the top of the pole to the desired finishing point of your curtains.
For this finish, the maximum height we can achieve is 280 cm.
-
- Pencil pleat finish (using a curtain rail): For this style of curtain, measure the height of the curtain from the top of the track to where you want your curtains to finish.
For this finish, the maximum height we can achieve is 280 cm.
-
- Pencil pleat finish (using a curtain pole ring): For this kind of curtain, measure the height of the curtain from the bottom of the ornamental rings to where you want your curtains to finish.
For this finish, the maximum height we can achieve is 280 cm.
-
- Eyelet finish: measure the height of the curtain from the top of the rod to the desired finishing point of your curtains. To this measurement, add 3 cm for the head of the curtain.
For this finish, the maximum height we can achieve is 280 cm.
For these 3 finishes:
-
- If you do not want your curtain to touch the floor, we advise you to remove 2 cm from the height found.
-
- If you want a breakable effect, we advise you to add 5 cm to the height found.
Define the width of your curtain:
The width of the curtain that you indicate on our website corresponds to the width of your curtain when flat.
-
It is up to you to calculate the width of your curtain according to the amount of gathers you want.
Ideally, depending on the finishes available:
-
- For a rod pocket or curtain tape finish : measure of the entire length of rod (between the decorative ends of the pole).
This measurement is to be multiplied by 2 to obtain the width to be ordered.
For example: For an entire length of 100cm, you must order a curtain with a width of 200cm.
-
- For an eyelet finish : measure of the entire length of rod (between the decorative ends of the pole).
This measurement is to be multiplied by 2,5 to obtain the width to be ordered.
For example: For a length of 100cm, you should order a curtain with a width of 220cm or 260cm, the widths for eyelets being predefined.
-
However, these coefficients are given as an indication. You can decide to gather your curtains a little less (up to 1.5 times the length of the rod) or a little more (up to 3 times the length of the rod).
